Contest Rules

1. Each contestant must participate as a judge in the category they are participating.

2. In order for a contestant to qualify as a judge, he or she must be present and available to judge and score all the contestants in their category.

3. Contestants are limited to one song per category and there is a maximum of 16 singers per category in the preliminary round.

4. The contest is limited to solo performances.

5. For all categories, singers must sing a qualifying song. The guidelines for a qualifying song are as follows:

Top 40: Any hit song from the year 1990 to present.
R&B: Any song in the style of Rhythm & Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Hip Hop or Rap.
Oldies: Any song from the year 1969 or older
70's/80's: Any hit song, in any style, released between the years of 1970 to 1989.
Standards/Broadway
: A "Standard" song is a song over 35 years old passed through generations and/or sung by a traditional "Standards" singer (i.e. Frank Sinatra). A "Broadway" song is a song from a Broadway play or musical.
Country: Any song in the style of Country & Western.
Rock: Any song in the style of Rock-N-Roll including but not limited to heavy metal, punk, alternative, old school, or soft rock.

6. Contestants may qualify for the semi-final round once in all six musical categories.

7. Once a contestant qualifies as a "finalist" then he/she is excluded from any other semi-final competition even if they have qualified to participate in more than one semi-final category/zone.

8. Contestants must be a resident of the area which they are qualifying, must be at least 21 years of age, and must not have made ANY income from being a singer in the year 2009. (This would include any singers currently in bands or singers under contract with an agent, agency, or record label.) Note: Financial information may be requested to support your claim.

9. In the Preliminary, Semi-final, and Grand Final rounds, contestants will be judged on the following criteria: Vocal Ability (20 points possible) and Showmanship (30 points possible).

10. Each contestant must agree that their name (or stage name) and their audio and/or visual performances may be used for broadcast televsion or used in/on any printed publications or on any web media sites.

11. If there is a question or a debate, the decision of the host/KJ at each participating venue is final.

12. Whenever there is a question or debate, the decision of Star Media is final.

13. Star Media reserves the right to cancel or alter this promotion at any time.
