The Karaoke Entertainer of the Year Contest is America's most unique and exciting karaoke competition. The contest is divided into six different musical catgegories inlcuding: Top 40, R&B, Oldies, 70's/80's (or Standards/Broadway), Country and Rock. During the preliminary round, singers can choose to compete in one or up to all six musical categories. During this round, singers show up to a participating venue and register. Different musical categories are presented each week. Upon registering, singers sing a qualifying song and are judged by fellow contestants. The top 2-3 singers in each musical category advance to a semi-final. During the semi-final round, singers are also judged by fellow contestants, but not necessarily those in their category. In the semi-final round, 8-10 singers in each musical category advance to a GRAND FINALS. At the GRAND FINALS, the 8-10 singers in each of the six musical categories are presented. The winner of each category receives a cash prize of $200, a gold record plaque AND sings one additional song (in any musical category) for the GRAND PRIZE of $1,000 cash and the title of "Karaoke Entertainer of the Year". The over-all winner from each local area advances on to a national final for $20,000 in additional cash prizes. For a complete list of rules, click here. The 2009 contest is being presented as a NATIONAL (10 U.S. Cities/Areas) contest with $55,000 ($2,000 awarded at each of the 5 GOLD local contests and $5,000 awarded at each of the 5 RED local contests + $20,000 awarded at the national final) in cash prizes and will include the following areas: |
