(UPDATED: January 2010) The Karaoke Entertainer of the Year Contest is America's most unique and exciting karaoke competition. The contest is divided into six different musical catgegories inlcuding: Top 40, R&B, Oldies, 70's/80's, Country and Rock. During the preliminary round, singers can choose to compete in one or up to all six musical categories. During this round, singers show up to a participating venue and register. The schedule for qualifying in each musical category for each area are as follows: week-1=Top 40, week-2=R&B, week-3=Oldies, week-4=70's&80's, week-5=Country, and week-6=Rock. Upon registering, singers sing a qualifying song and are judged by fellow contestants. The top 3 singers in each musical category advance to a semi-final. During the semi-final round, singers are also judged by fellow contestants, but not necessarily those in their own musical category. In the semi-final round, singers in each musical category from each semi-final advance to a FINALS. At the FINALS, the singers in each of the six musical categories compete for cash prizes for their musical category. Cash prize winners compete for additional cash prizes including a Grand Prize of $1,000. For a complete list of rules, click here.
